It is with great sadness that one of our cherished and most dear members, Bob Rader,
95 & 1/2 years old, passed away peacefully on Tues., February 18, 2025 after a brief illness affecting his breathing.
Bob was born Aug 27, 1929 in Kittanning, Pennsylvania and was the beloved son of Roy
Rader and Leone Griffith. He was preceded by his beloved wife, Carol, who for many years attended our monthly meetings with
him until the time of her passing.
He is survived by his loving children,
Lou Ann Glover (Bruce), Lynn Riemenschneider (Michael), Laura Keeling (Frank), Russell Rader and Roy Rader, grandchildren
Eric and Evan Glover, Katie Keeling, Blake and Liz Rader, Christopher Stafford, Brandan Rader and great grandchild Charlotte
Stafford.
Bob graduated from Grandville High School in 1947 and then attended
Ohio University in Athens, OH. While there, he met Carol Lovejoy and they were married in December of 1951.
Bob had a career in banking at Central National Bank, Society and First Federal.
He enjoyed traveling, camping, bowling, golfing and attending Cleveland Browns games.
He was a longtime active member of Clague Road United Church of Christ in North Olmsted. Bob and Carol traveled to all fifty
states, as well as three trips abroad.
After retirement, they liked to stay
active and they volunteered at the Fairview Park food pantry, Church, the county library and worked at the polls on election
days. Bob was an animal lover, particularly fond of dogs.
Bob's memorial service
was held Wed., February 26, 2025, with visitation from 10am-11:00am at the Sunset Memorial Park Cemetery, followed by the
service at 11:00 am.
Bob will be greatly missed by our Akron Post-Polio Support
Group as he and his wonderful daughters attended our monthly meetings regularly and were loved by all. They would travel great
distance to pick him up for our monthly meetings and he would say quite often "I have the best two daughters anyone could
ever wish for."
Bob always had a beaming smile when he entered the room
-- a very happy gentleman and we will always remember the joy he brought to our group with his smiles and laughter.
A memorial gift to his favorite charity has been sent.
