Leland P. Zurbrugg, 84, of Sebring passed away at his home on Monday, February 13, 2023. Leland was born in Columbiana County on November 16, 1938 the son of the late Frederick C. and Bessie M. (Wuthrick) Zurbrugg. He was a graduate of Sebring McKinley High School, worked at Transue-Williams for 21 years and as a Die Designer for Canton Drop Forge for 22 years. He was a member of the Sebring United Methodist Church. Mr. Zurbrugg was also a Charter Member of the former Sebring Lions Club where he served as President in 1983 and received the Melvin Jones Fellow award. Leland also served as a Trustee on the Ohio Hot Stove Baseball League from 1975 to 1978, President from 1979 to 1982, Immediate Past President from 1983 to 1984; he also received the "Cy Butler Memorial Award" in 1976 from the Alliance Hot Stove Baseball League, the "Cy Butler Memorial Award" from the Ohio Hot Stove League in 1989, he was inducted into the Sebring Parks and Recreation Board Honor Roll in 1991 and received the Sebring-West Branch Hot Stove Lifetime Achievement Award in 2001.

Survivors include his children; Marcine D. (Alan) O'Leary, Paul A. (Karen Smith) Zurbrugg and Beth A. (Steve) Pumphery, Sis (Chris) Chestnut, Douglas (Gina) Casto and daughter-in-law Kelly Zurbrugg. He is also survived by twelve grandchildren, 11 great grandchildren, his sister Doris Arlene Stryffeler and brother Delmar Charles Zurbrugg. Besides his parents he was preceded in death by his wife Betty M. (Weingart) whom he married on August 20, 1977 and passed on August 26, 2015 and a brother Alfred Wayne Zurbrugg.


A funeral service will be held on Monday, February 20, 2023 at 11:00 AM at Gednetz-Ruzek-Brown Funeral Home in Sebring with Pastor Paul Freer officiating. A time of visitation will be held the hour prior to the service from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM. Burial will take place at Highland Memorial Park in Beloit. In lieu of flowers donations can be made in Leland's honor to the Sebring Fire Department 235 East Ohio Ave. Sebring, OH 44672.
